Description: Skyring (KY) B , H, foaled January 30, 2009 (English Channel - Violet Lady, by Seattle Slew) made every pole a winning one as he wins the 1 1/8 miles $300K Grade II Mervin H. Muniz Jr. Handicap on the lawn at Fair Grounds March 29, 2014. Jockey Joe Rocco Jr was allowed to settle Skyring on the front end, his nearest foe, Burn The Mortgage applied only mild pressure while racing well off his outside flank. Burn The Mortgage ranged up to challenge Skyring for the lead nearing the 1/4 pole but could not match strides with him. Amira's Prince got rolling to gain ground around the turn and was in full flight down the stretch. Skyring just did get there in time to post a neck victory over Amira's Prince. It was 3 lengths further back to Burn The Mortgage in 3rd. Skyring had not won since his score in the Dixie Stakes at Pimlico May 18, 2013 at Pimlico.
