Description: Tiz Windy (KY) DK B/, F, foaled February 13, 2011 (Tiznow - Windyindy, by A.P. Indy) gets her first Graded Stakes victory with a win in the 1/16 miles $200K Grade II Indiana Oaks on a track labeled 'fast' at Indiana Grand Race Course October 4, 2014. Jockey Brian Hernandez, Jr. and Tiz Windy broke alertly then was allowed to settle into stride heading into the far turn as Soul Title went out to set the pace. Penwith went with Soul Title to keep the pressure on and Tiz Windy was running in 7th up the back stretch. Soul Title gave way heading into the far turn as Unbridled Forever made a nice move to get on even terms with Penwith and Tiz Windy came running fast along the outside as they turned for home. At the furlong marker Unbridled Forever hit the front but Tiz Windy got to that one at the 1/16th marker and went on to win by 2 3/4 lengths. It was another 4 1/4 lengths back to Penwith in 3rd. Tiz Windy is a homebred of the late Jim Tafel. Jim Tafel was a long time owner and breeder and bred the two year old Champion Street Sense. Street Sense won the 2006 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and then went on to win the 2007 Kentucky Derby. Mr Tafel died in July of this year at the age of 90.
