Description: Tale of a Champion (KY) B , H, foaled May 4, 2008 (Tale of the Cat - If Angels Sang, by Seattle Slew) has now won races at distances from 5 furlongs to 1 1/4 miles win his win in the $200K Grade II Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap June 8 2012. His 5 furlong score came last year in the Bob Umphrey at Calder June 7. He then was blanked in several graded events, dropped to a Starter Stakes March 30 at 1 1/8 miles and won, then was stepped up into the Charles Whittingham. Jockey Joe Talamo was again on board and said that when All Squared Away came at him ... 'My horse felt his presence at the eighth pole and kept digging in.' Tale of a Champion won by 1 length, it was another 1 1/4 lengths back to Lucky Primo in 3rd. He is now 6 for 14 and has earned $269,708 while scoring his first Graded victory.
