Description: Smooth Roller (KY) B , G, foaled February 7, 2011 (Hard Spun - Catch the Moment, by Unbridled) gets his first Graded victory with a runaway score in the 9 furlong $300K Grade I Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita Park on September 26, 2015. Jockey Tyler Baze sent Smooth Roller out to chase Bayern as they run down the stretch for the first time, around the Clubhouse turn and up the back stretch. Hoppertunity got away well and followed the leaders a couple of lengths off the pace along the outside. Smooth Roller started to gain ground on Bayern as they rounded the far turn and a 1/4 mile from home Smooth Roller hit the front and went on to win by a widening 5 1/4 lengths. Hoppertunity got the place 1 1/2 lengths in front of Bayern. Smooth Roller started his racing career in the middle of his four year old year by winning a MSW at Santa Anita June 27th. He then won a AOC (no tag) at Del Mar August 1st. Smooth Roller then ran 4th behind Point Piper in the Harry Brubaker Stakes at Del Mar August 26th before his scintillating performance in the Awesome Again. The Awesome Again Stakes is a Breeders' Cup World Championships Challenge Series race and Smooth Roller gets his entry fees paid into the BC Classic October 31st if his connections elect to send him to Keeneland. The Breeders' Cup also provides a travel allowance for horse not stabled in Kentucky. Smooth Roller is 3-0-0 from 4 starts and he has earned $261,810 for his owners at Lucky Charm Stables.
