Description: Shared Belief (KY) DK B/, G, foaled February 15, 2011 (Candy Ride (ARG) - Common Hope, by Storm Cat) ran true to form and remained undefeated with 5 in a row with a victory in the 1 1/8 miles $500K Grade II Los Alamitos Derby (formerly the Swaps Stakes at Hollywood Park) at Los Alamitos Race Course July 5, 2014. Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith stayed up close chasing the frontrunner Can The Man and challenged that one rounding the far turn. Candy Boy got rolling from the rear and the three horses ran on out of the turn and into the stretch. But it was all Shared Belief as he stretched out and won in a gallop by 4 1/4 lengths over Candy Boy. Tonito M. came along for 3rd, 7 1/4 lengths further back. Shared Belief received an Eclipse Award as 2 Year Old Male for 2013, after his MSW victory he won the G3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes November 10th and then won the G1 Cash Call Futurity December 14th, both at Hollywood Park. Shared Belief's Derby hopes were dashed, however, by a foot ailment. His return to the races wasn't until May 26, 2014 in an 4 1/4 length victory in an ALW event. Shared Belief has earned $772,200. He is owned by Jim Rome’s Jungle Racing, Jerry Hollendorfer, KMN Racing, Jason Litt, George Todaro, and Alex Solis II and he was bred by Pam and Martin Wygod.
