Jockey Mike Smith was caught next to Sky Kingdom out of the gate and was floated wide as Sky Kingdom took the turn wide himself. From there on Shared Belief was keep at a disadvantage as he had to travel wide up the backstretch. With nowhere to run Shared Belief had to stay wide around the far turn. Fed Biz shot to the lead but was joined by Mystery Train as they went up the backstretch. As the field rounded the far turn Fed Biz and Mystery Train were joined by Imperative on the outside. Shared Belief shook of Sky Kingdom but had to travel wide around the turn to get into contention. Fed Biz went on for home and was joined by Shared Belief in upper stretch and those two battled it out to the wire. Champions do overcome adversity and Shared Belief out dueled Fed Biz to get the win by a neck. It was 2 1/4 lengths further back to Footbridge in 3rd. Shared Belief won the 2013 Eclipse Award for Outstanding 2 Year Old Male. He has won $1,552,200 on the race track for his owners Jungle Racing LLC, KMN Racing LLC, Hollendorfer, Litt, Solis II and Todaro. Shared Belief was purchased privately by partner and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer from his breeder/owners Pam and Martin Wygod after his MSW victory at Golden Gate Fields October 19, 2013.
