Description: The Santa Anita Handicap, The Big Cap, is run each year at Santa Anita Park.  The first running was in 1935 and offered a huge purse of $100K, known by most horsemen as 'the Hundred-Grander'. 

• The fastest time in the Big Cap was set by Game On Dude in 2014 (1.58.17).
• Most wins by a horse: Game On Dude (2014, 2013, 2011). 
• Most wins by a jockey: Willie Shoemaker (1954, 1955, 1958, 1961, 1966, 1967, 1971, 1975, 1980, 1982, 1985).
• Most wins by a trainer: Charlie Whittingham (1957, 1967, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1985, 1986, 1993).
• Most wins by an owner: Charles S. Howard (1939, 1940, 1950).  However, Mercedes Stables in partnerships have won the Big Cap 4 times: 2005 Rock Hard Ten (G Stevens, R Mandella), 2011 Game On Dude (C Sutherland, B Baffert), 2013 Game On Dude (M Smith, B Baffert), 2014 Game On Dude (M Smith, B Baffert).
