Description: Red Rifle (KY) CH , G, foaled April 3, 2010 (Giant's Causeway - May Night, by Gulch) runs off in the 1 1/4 miles $250K Grade II Hawthorne Gold Cup to win his first Graded race at Hawthorne Race Course November 29, 2014. Jockey Florent Geroux sent Red Rifle to the front out of the gate and set all the fractions in a wire to wire score. Abraham tried to go with him around the first turn and up the back stretch but Red Rifle pulled away from him heading into the far turn. At the top of the lane Red Rifle had a commanding lead and the others were battling for second. Call Me George and Mister Marti Gras made their late runs, however, Red Rifle was an elusive target as he went on to win by 2 1/4 lengths over Mister Marti Gras. Mister Marti Gras edged Call Me George by a neck for the place. Red Rifle is now 5-4-0 from 13 starts and he has earned $412,520 for his owners at Twin Creeks Racing Stables, LLC.
