Description: Mshawish (KY) DK B/, H, foaled May 16, 2010 (Medaglia d'Oro - Thunder Bayou, by Thunder Gulch) is making his transition to a dirt horse very nicely with a victory in the 9 furlong $500K Grade I Donn Handicap at Gulfstream Park February 6, 2016. Jockey John Velazquez and Mshawish broke alertly and raced in third most of the trip along the rail. Financial Modeling set the pace while Valid and Mshawish stalked that one from 2nd and 3rd. Mshawish angled off the rail as they were turning for home and gained the lead at the eighth pole and drew off to win by 2 lengths over Valid. Mexikoma, never far out of it racing in fourth got edged for the place by a 1/2 length. Mshawish is now 8-2-3 from 23 starts while earning $2,221,351 for his owners at Al Shaqab Racing. He was bred by OTIF 2007. His connections say they are hopeful that he will go to Dubai and compete in the World Cup March 26th at Meydan. Mshawish is being trained by Todd Pletcher.
