Description: Mondialiste (IRE) B , H, foaled March 8, 2010 (Galileo (IRE) - Occupandiste (IRE), by Kaldoun (FR)) makes his North American debut a winning one with a victory in the 8 furlong $1 million Grade I Woodbine Mile over the 'yielding' turf course at the Toronto, Canada track. Jockey Fergal Lynch settled Mondialiste towards the rear of the field as Obviously went out to an uncontested lead at times leading by 5 lengths. Lea settled into a stalking position along the inside in 3rd behind Reporting Star as they raced up the back stretch. As they rounded the far turn and turned for home, Obviously was holding off Reporting Star, however, Lea came full of run along the outside in mid stretch and Mondialiste maneuvered to find a seam between horses in deep stretch to get up in time to post a 1/2 length victory over Lea. Obviously held on well for the show 1 1/4 lengths further back and a neck in front of Kaigun in 4th. Mondialiste is 4-3-5 from 15 starts and he has earned $718,196. He was bred by Wertheimer et Frere, owned by Geoff & Sandra Turnbull, and he is being trained by David O'Meara. The Woodbine Mile is a Breeders' Cup World Championships Challenge Series race and Mondialiste get a free pass into the BC Mile October 31st at Keeneland should his connections decide to run him.
