Lines of Battle raced on or near the pace, was passed by Snowboarder about 4 furlongs out but came back to take the lead at the top of the stretch and had enough to hold off Elleval late to win by 1 1/2 lengths. Favored Secret Number came running late to get 3rd. Lines of Battle sits in the 3rd spot the the Derby points board with 100 and non-restricted earnings of $1,261,089. He has won 3 of 6 lifetime races and has earned $1,276,204. He was bred by Joseph Allen and owned by the International owners J. Allen, Mrs J. Magnier, M. Tabor, D.
