Description: Lady Lara (IRE) B , F, foaled January 26, 2011 (Excellent Art (GB) - Shanty (GB), by Selkirk) found her best stride in her third North American start in the 8 furlong $300K Grade II Honey Fox Stakes at Gulfstream Park March 28, 2015. Jockey Junior Alvarado rated Lady Lara in mid pack on the rail around the Clubhouse turn and up the backstretch. Istanford set the pace alone on the lead until after a half mile; Party Now, Coffee Clique, and Sandiva came to join her as they entered the far turn. Lady Lara was up close in behind horses along the inside waiting for racing room as Sandiva went up on the outside to get the lead as the turned for home. Coffee Clique came chasing and Lady Lara found a seem between horses and closed with a rush to get past Sandiva in deep stretch to win by a neck. Coffee Clique was 1 1/4 lengths further back for the show. Lady Lara came over from Great Britain and won the Listed Pebbles Stakes at Belmont Park October 13, 2014. She then came from far back to get second to Sparkling Review in the G2 Mrs. Revere at Belmont Park November 15th. Trainer Bill Mott put her on the shelf and it was all she needed to register the win in the Honey Fox. Lady Lara is 4-3-3 from 16 starts and she has won $458,503.
