Description: Emollient (KY) B , F, foaled February 7, 2010 (Empire Maker - Soothing Touch, by Touch Gold) wins her first start on grass in the 1 1/4 miles $350K Grade I American Oaks at Hollywood Park July 13 2013. Jockey Mike Smith sensed a slow pace up front and with a 1/2 mile to go brought Emollient up to challenge for the lead. She got the lead as they rounded the turn and was immediately confronted with a strong bid by Emotional Kitten who was coming from far back. However, the more Mike Smith asked of Emollient, the more she gave as they went on to win by 1/2 length. Emotional Kitten could not get by and settled for 2nd, 3/4 lengths in front of Topic in 3rd.
