Description: Departing (KY) B , G, foaled April 1, 2010 (War Front - Leave, by Pulpit) advanced steadily from the outside collared the leader at the 3/8 pole, toyed with that one for a quarter mile then galloped out to win the 1 1/8 miles $500K Grade II Super Derby at Louisiana Downs September 7 2013. Jockey Robbie Albarado kept Departing on the outside in the clear and seemed to advance steadily stride after stride. However, as the frontrunners approached the 3/8's pole Albarado ask Departing to pick it up and he quickly move up to engage Ruler Of Love for the lead. Those two went on even terms until the top of the lane and Departed took off again, he drew off to win by 4 lengths at the end. Ruler Of Love did hold second, 3 lengths in front of Cameo Appearance who finished in 3rd. Departing is 6-0-1 from 8 starts and he has earned $1,379,500 for his owners/breeders at Claiborne Farms and Adele B. Dilschneider.
