Description: Curalina (KY) CH , F, foaled May 5, 2012 (Curlin - Whatdreamsrmadeof, by Graeme Hall) climbs up the class ladder and gets her first stakes victory with a hard fought win in the 8 furlong $750K Grade I Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park June 6, 2015. She has run off 3 in a row; she broke her maiden in her second start March 28th at Gulfstream Park and won an AOC (no tag) at Churchill Downs on May 1st. Jockey John Velazquez has been aboard for all three of her wins. In the Acorn, Promise Me Silver ran up to take command up the back stretch, Miss Ella was tracking her and By The Moon was in a good spot keeping those two within reach. Curalina steadily moved up along the outside. As they rounded the far turn Miss Ella engaged Promise Me Silver for the lead as By The Moon angled to the outside, got the lead turning for home and sprinted away for the wire. Curalina took out after By The Moon with a lot of work to do but got to By The Moon in deep stretch to win by a neck. By The Moon held off a fast closing Wonder Gal to save the place by 3/4 lengths. Curalina is now 3-1-0 from 4 starts and she has earned $486,800 for her owners at Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners. She was bred by CASA Farms I, LLC and she is being trained by Todd Pletcher.
