Description: Chautauqua (AUS) GR/B , G, foaled September 20, 2010 (Encosta de Lago (AUS) - Lovely Jubly (AUS), by Lion Hunter (AUS)) came from the clouds to win the 1600 meters (about 6 furlongs) AUS$2.5 million Group I T. J. Smith Stakes at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney, New South Wales Australia, April 6, 2015. Jockey Tommy Berry and Chautauqua, and the rest of the field, including the world's top-rated sprinter Lankan Rupee, were seemingly beaten by Lord Of The Sky with 150 meters to go but Chautauqua edged that one by a nose at the line for the win. It was two lengths further back to Terravista for the show. Australia's Horse Of The Year in 2013 & 2014, Lankan Rupee finished in ninth. Chautauqua is 6-5-0 from 13 starts. He was bred by Woodbury Ltd, owned by Greg Ingham and partners, and he is being trained by Michael, Wayne, and John Hawkes. The T. J. Smith is a Breeders' Cup World Championships Challenge Series races and Chautauqua earned himself a hefty travel allowance and a free berth into the BC Turf Sprint October 31st at Keeneland.
