Description: Catch a Flight (ARG) B , H, foaled October 16, 2010 (Giant's Causeway - Callaia (ARG), by Lode) wins another big Southern California race with a victory in the 8.5 furlong $200K Grade II San Diego Handicap at Del Mar July 15, 2015. Jockey Gary Stevens settled Catch A Flight out to track the pace set by Bayern and Appealing Tale into the far turn and up the back stretch. The pace setters battled for the lead the whole trip with Appealing Tale beginning to draw clear inside the 1/8th pole. Catch A Flight came after them mid way around the far turn and caught Appealing Tale in deep stretch to win by head. Bayern held onto the show, 1 1/4 lengths further back. Catch A Flight has been a force since coming to North American from Argentina earlier this year with a 3rd place finish in an AOC (no tag) January 19th. He then came back and won an AOC (no tag) February 13th at Santa Anita and gave jockey Gary Stevens his 5000th North American victory. Catch A Flight then ran 3rd to Shared Belief and Moreno in the Grade I Santa Anita Handicap March 7th. He then ran off with victories in the G3 Precisionist May 2nd (giving trainer Richard Mandella his 2000th win) and the G2 Californian May 30th. He then ran 3rd in the G1 Gold Cup behind Hard Aces and Hoppertunity June 27th. All his races were at Santa Anita and ridden by Gary Stevens, trained by Richard Mandella before their victory in the San Diego Handicap.
