Description: California Chrome (CA) CH , H, foaled February 18, 2011 (Lucky Pulpit - Love the Chase, by Not For Love) returns to the races after a 9 month layoff to win the 8.5 furlong $200K Grade II San Pasqual Stakes at Santa Anita Park January 9, 2016. Regular rider Victor Espinoza and California Chrome tracked the pace setter, Alfa Bird, until the 5/16th marker and went on to score a 1 1/4 length victory over Imperative. Hoppertunity was a length further back for the show. California Chrome was a Champion at 3 with victories in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, and the Hollywood Derby on the turf at Del Mar. He also earned an Eclipse Award for 2014 Horse Of The Year. California Chrome was bred by Steve Coburn and Perry Martin. Steve Coburn sold his shares to Taylor Made. Martin Racing and Taylor Made make up the partnership of California Chrome LLC. California Chrome is now 10-3-1 from 19 starts. He has earned $6,442,650 which makes him the richest California bred Thoroughbred. Trainer Art Sherman is pointing him to the Dubai World Cup March 26th. He will leave for Dubai January 21st and have one prep race at Meydan before the World Cup.
