Jockey Victor Espinoza sent American Pharoah to the lead at the break and they went on to win the third jewel in America's Triple Crown by 5 1/2 lengths. American Pharoah became the 12th Thoroughbred to win the Triple Crown. It has been 37 years since Affirmed won the Triple Crown in 1978. American Pharoah is a homebred of Zayat Stables. His record is 7-0-0 from 8 starts and he has earned $4,530,300. American Pharoah is being trained by Bob Baffert. American Pharoah is an Eclipse Award Champion having received the Award for Outstanding Two Year Old Male in 2014.
